Practice Policies

This general information will acquaint you with my organizational policies affecting issues that frequently arise during the course of therapeutic services. My primary goal is to offer guidance and insights that will allow you to resolve your personal and interpersonal difficulties. Due to the nature of counseling, it can at times be uncomfortable and challenging. You will be invited to explore debilitating belief systems and introduced to new paradigms and the possibility of change. I will do everything in my professional capacity to be helpful to you. I hope you find your expenditure of time, energy and money worthwhile. If you have any questions about the information below, please do not hesitate to discuss them with me.

APPOINTMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS

Please remember to cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible for the entire fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours. 

The standard meeting time for services is between 20-50 minutes. It is up to you, however, to determine the length of time of your sessions. Requests to change the agreed upon time within the session needs to be discussed with Shamanic Health in order for time to be scheduled in advance. If the session goes longer than the time reserved for you, you will be responsible for the fee. 

A $55.00 service charge will be charged for any checks returned for any reason for special handling. 

Cancellations and re-scheduled session will be subject to a full charge if NOT RECEIVED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.

APPOINTMENT REMINDERS

Appointment reminders are offered as a courtesy to you. If for some reason you do not receive the reminders you are still responsible for showing up to your appointment or canceling your appointment 24 hours in advance. You will receive an email reminder, please DO NOT REPLY TO THE EMAIL. CONTACT ME DIRECTLY IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL OR CHANGE YOUR APPOINTMENT. If you do not provide 24 hours notice you will be charged the full session fee. If you do not want to receive the reminders please inform me of that request.

TELEPHONE ACCESSIBILITY

If you need to contact me between sessions, please leave a message on my voicemail, email, or SMS text message. I am often not immediately available; however, I will attempt to return your call as soon as I am able to.  If a true emergency situation arises, please call 911, the access and crisis line at 800-479-3339, or any local emergency room.

ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

I cannot ensure the confidentiality of any form of communication through electronic media, including text messages. If you prefer to communicate via email or text messaging for issues regarding scheduling or cancellations, I will do so. While I may try to return messages in a timely manner, I cannot guarantee immediate response and request that you do not use these methods of communication to discuss therapeutic content and/or request assistance for emergencies. Any communication about issues that are relevant to your service and require more than 15 minutes of my time will be billed at my hourly rate of ($4.44). These issues are best dealt with in your session. 

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS

Our services are not meant to replace allopathic medicine.  Please consult with your physician, should you require medical or psychiatric support.

If you need to get in contact with me between sessions, you may call, text or email, whichever is more convenient for you. If it is not okay for me to email you, please notify me of that request. While I can assure privacy on my behalf, due to the nature of the Internet, once the email or text is sent, I cannot guarantee that outside parties do not have access to the information we exchange.

I attempt to be prompt with respect to appointment times and must hold to the designated 50-minute “hour” in order to be prepared for the next appointment. Many people find it helpful to arrive in the area a few minutes early to become both mentally and physically prepared to begin their session on time.

SERVICE GUARANTEES

Each service is a session with Shamanic Health and the client(s).  Information will be given to you only as a guide and suggestion, and this information is never a requirement for the client(s) to act upon should the client(s) deem this information going against their own inner wisdom.

Readings are meant to be a healing narrative to support the journey of the client(s).  Please take the information that is useful to you and discard the rest.  Readings are never meant to replace traditional psychotherapy, counseling or coaching.  They are a useful tool to support challenging moments where insight and intuition is the best tool.
